At SourcreONE Credit Union, we have. They’re an organization of great people working together to educate, organize and empower tenants to have a voice in the decisions that affect the affordability and availability of decent and safe housing.
You can learn a great deal about their organization by clicking here .
In fact, they recently made page three of the Chicago Sun-Times! Check out how they helped this woman in the area deal with urgent maintenance issues.
After we read this article, we emailed our contact at MTO (Metropolitan Tenants Organization) Barette Barker, and here’s what she had to say: “There are so many people (tenants) in crisis that have never heard of Metropolitan Tenants Organization (MTO) until they’ve gotten into a situation that’s uncomfortable. Most tenants feel they are at a loss when problems arise with their landlords, they do not know the laws and that’s where MTO comes in – we provide real time answers and solutions which they need.”
