Things to do in the summer time in Chicago

It’s that time of year again when the days are long and the air is warm.  That’s right!  Summer is coming which means there will be lots of fun things to do in Chicago.  Here are some ideas of some different things to do during the summer months.

CBFChicago Blues Festival- it’s the largest free blues festival in the world and remains the largest of Chicago’s music festivals.  The festival runs for three days on five stages.  If you love blues music or even if this is your first time hearing it, this is a fest you will not want to miss.  There’s free admission and the fest runs from June 10-12th, 2016 at Grant Park.



TOCTaste of Chicago- The nation’s premier outdoor food festival offering a variety of Chicago’s diversity in food.  The Taste of Chicago has free admission and also offers music entertainment and exciting activities for the whole family.  The taste is located in Grant Park along the lakefront July 6-10th, 2016.



LollapLollapalooza- This event started in 1991 and is celebrating 25 years this year.  Lollapalooza is an annual music festival featuring popular alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip hop, and EDM bands.  They also feature artists, dance and comedy performances and craft booths.  You can hear various musical acts over three days.  The event is located in Grant Park July 28-31st, 2016.  You can purchase tickets here (insert hyperlink).



CAWSAir and Water Show- The Air and Water show is an annual air show held on the shore of Lake Michigan in Chicago.  The show has been held each year since 1959 and is Chicago’s second most popular festival.  This show features military and civilian flight aerobatics, historic aircraft, simulated water rescues and parachute teams.  You can watch the show with free admission at North Avenue Beach during August 20-21st, 2016.

These are just some of the things you can do in Chicago during the summer months.  Of course, some of the events listed are free admission.
